Tucumán
Rugby Club was the headquarter of the first
edition of the Argentina Rugby Festival, an
opportunity for cultural and sport interchange
among young boys fron all over the world.
More than
300 boys from Southafrica, New Zealand, Venezuela,
Formosa, Salta and Tucumán starred a
weekend that will stay in their memories for
a long time.
Highlights :
- the sport level of Onehunga high school
from New Zealand and of the teams from Tucumán.
- the evening dinners, where the boys were
set by two per team in each table, boys
from New Zealand, Southafrica, Venezuela,
Argentina, traing to understand each other
without mindind the language difference
- the evenings when they sang tipical songs
from the each country, the Haka from New
Zealand, the songs from Southafrica.
- the rap show of the team members of Alcatraz,
who also improvised singing with boys from
New Zealand and Southafrica
- the interesting stories of Alcatraz from
Venezuela and of Aborígenes from
Formosa
- the top levell rugby clinic held by the
New Zealand´s coach from the Auckland
Union, Cornel Wolmarans
- the story about the Aborigen Rugby club.
Directed by it´s mentor Eduardo Rossi,
who presented the film "La Quimera
de los Héroes", starred by the
Toba native indians team membres that was
awarded in severall international films
festivals. After the film, the team members
gave their moving testimonies
- the outfit that the boys from New Zealand
wore durigng the photoshoot and the shirts
specially made for this event by the boys
of Universitario de Tucumán
- the presentation of Proyecto Alcatraz.
They have a story that stands out the values
of rugby as a way turning people into better
beings.
- the trophys wone by the champions of each
category, Universitario de Tucumán
in under 18 and Jockey club de Tucumán
in under 23.
- the autographed jerseys of the Pumas Captain,
Agustin Pichot, that were wone by the best
players of the finals; Taani Valu from Onehunga
High School from New Zealand (Under 18)
and Jorge Chavanne from Jockey Club de Tucumán
(Under 23).
- the Tucuman girls were present each day
of the tournament.
- the giant pictures from each team, the
pictures of the captains and the commemorative
plates that each participant taem got as
a gift.
- the presence of the Tucuman main authorities,
the Turism Secretary: Mercedes Paz; The
Yerba Buena City Mayer: Roberto Martinez
Zavalia; the president of Tucuman Rugby
Union: Miguel Regginato; The president of
Tucumán Rugby Club: Nicolas Avellaneda.

during the competence
- the karaoke show on Thursday with the
outstanding performance of the boys from
Tigres de Salta and Venezuela

the best ones in Tucumán Rugby Union
- the images shown in the wide screem during
the dinners with the highlights of all the
activities
- the well made desition by the organization,
that didn´t allow the boys to consume
alcohol during the hole extention of the
event. By any way this was a problem for
the boys to have fun in all the activities.
- the game levell of two skilled Onehunga´s
backs , Taani Valu and Petelo Malakai, members
of Auckland´s youht teams and probably
All Blacks in the future.
- the ID Cards that each player had, with
their name, team and country, one of the
souveniers that they cuold keep.
- the excellent behavior of all the teams,
inside and outside of the pitch.
- the Florida Park´s (from Southafrica)
show, singing and dancing on the stage with
a Britney Spears song
- the organization, the safety, the ambulantes,
the audio on the fields
- the finals on Sunday, Under 18 wone by
Universitario de Tucumán by 26 to
21 against Onehunga High School from New
Zealand; Under 23 wone by Jockey Club de
Tucumán by 9 to 3 against Universitario
de Tucumán.
- the fact that Argentina rugby Festival
will be held again in 2007, this time in
tho different dates and headquarters: Buenos
Aires and Cordoba
